The GRENCH

The GRENCH is a Universal Outfitters innovation. Shooting custom 1911's all the times it became almost mandatory to have a bushing wrench on hand. This became just another piece of gear to tote around and lose. So trying to always simplify things I thought why not incorporate into gear you definitely have on hand-or in hand in this case. I put the bushing wrench right into the grips, so if you have the gun you have the wrench.
Additionally, many 1911 users are converting to hex-head grip screws for a better look and no chance of burred screws. So why not simplify further? Incorporate a hex key into the base of the grip to allow easy removal of the grips. The hex key is retained by a rare-earth magnet and a unique locking tab ensuring that it cannot come out unless you take it out. Running, fighting, dropping the gun, sustained rapid-fire -None of these will disloge the key. You get to carry a 1911 toolkit everywhere the gun goes.
As the final icing on the cake, one grip panel has a standard size bushing wrench, the other has an oversize wrench.
